Saving a PC's life?

In many cases, yes!

In today's modern PC's there are numerous cooling fans which pull in airborne dust and deposit it on the internal components, which in turn catches more dust. The layer of dust builds and eventually can lead to full blockages of airflow to the cooling fins of the processor heatsink. Shown below is an example of a PC cooling heatsink wit the fan removed and a laptop cooling heatsink with the fan assembly removed.

In these pictures, dust and airborne debris has covered so much of the heatsinks that the airflow is reduced dramatically. This is quite a common sight in our workshop . A buildup of dust and debris like this can happen in just a few months in some cases. There is no miracle cure or prevention. The best way to keep this at bay is regular servicing/cleaning.

E-Systems valeting service (detailed below) can prevent problems associated with overheating due to reduced airflow to all critical components such as CPU's, fan cooled graphics cards, case fans and power supply assemblies.

If your computer needs to come into our workshop for any other work, you can take advantage of a half or full valet at half price!

E-Systems computer valet services
Keeping your PC healthy and happy

(Half and full valet)

Half Valet

A half valet normally costs £30, we offer it for half price whilst your PC is in the workshop for other work, and here is what we do:

  • Open case and perform initial vacuum clean and brush-through to remove obvious accumulations of dust.
  • Power supply brushed and cleaned as much as possible to remove dust (power supply is not disassembled).
  • CPU cooling fan is removed from heatsink and thoroughly cleaned. Heatsink fins brushed and cleaned to remove accumulations of dust.
  • Case fans (if fitted) removed and thoroughly cleaned.
  • Inside of case freshened to remove any dust odour.
  • Outside of case thoroughly cleaned with active foam cleaner.

Full Valet

A full valet normally costs £40, we offer it for half price whilst your PC is in the workshop for other work, we do all of the items in a half valet with the additional steps as detailed below:

  • Once the above has been done, we take out all slot-in cards including memory modules.
  • These cards are also cleaned thoroughly and the contacts cleaned with electrical contact cleaner and set aside to dry.
  • All slots on the mainboard and board detail brushed and vacuumed a second time.
  • Electrical cleaner applied to all slots and then the cards are refitted.
  • Full system test

Dust is one of the biggest computer killers!

Our cleaning procedure helps to stop your processor overheating due to reduced airflow around the CPU cooling system fins.

It also reduces dust ingress into electrically conductive contact areas where cards fit into slots with up to 168 separate contacts in just one slot. This helps to keep connections bright and efficient.

Bright and efficient means more reliable and cooler means longer service life
